Slovenian economy added 6,400 jobs in March

Ljubljana, 16 May (STA) - The Slovenian economy added about 6,400 jobs in March, as the number of persons in employment rose 0.7% to 863,200. This marks a year-on-year increase of 3.5%, the Statistics Office data show.

The number of persons in paid employment - those working for legal entities and sole proprietors - rose by 0.5% to around 772,300.

The number of the self-employed rose by 0.4% to almost 91,000, with the sharpest increase, of almost 1% at the monthly level, registered among farmers.

The number of men with a job rose at a faster rate than the number of women, 1% versus 0.5%, in particular due to strong hiring in the construction sector, which added 2,000 jobs.

Job gains were registered in all major industries bar financial and insurance services, where the workforce shrank by 0.1%.
