Koper, 11 March (STA) - Retailer Engrotus will open the biggest shopping and entertainment centre in Slovenia, the 70,000 sq. metre Planet Tus, in Koper at the end of the month. The mall will boast 50 stores, which Engrotus says puts it on par will major European shopping malls.
The facility will also include a bowling centre with a night club and a concert venue, pool tables, a gym, children area, several restaurants and the biggest cinema in the Primorsko region.
With the opening of a six-theatre cinema with the total of 1,498 seats, the Planet Tus chain will become the biggest cinema operator in the country.
Planet Tus Koper is the fifth in the series of Engrotus's shopping and entertainment centres, following malls in Celje, Maribor, Kranj and Novo mesto.
Engrotus's subsidiary Tus Nepremicnine invested EUR 61m in the project that created over 300 new jobs, which makes Planet Tus in Koper one of the biggest domestic investments in retail and one of the biggest private investments in Slovenia.
Planet Tus was designed as an energy efficient facility. The company highlighted the 'bank of ice' system of cooling. The ice is made during the night, when energy is cheaper, and then used to cool the air during the day.
