Slovenia's ILO-Compatible Unemployment Down to 7%

Ljubljana, 30 November (STA) - Slovenia's unemployment rate dropped by 0.1 percentage points to 7% in the third quarter of 2010 according to the Labour Force Survey, the benchmark of the International Labour Organisation and Eurostat, the Slovenian Statistics Office said on Tuesday.

The unemployment rate in the July to September period was 7% for men and 7.1% for women, down from 7.5% and 6.7% respectively in the second quarter of the year.

In a two-million Slovenia, the number of people in employment totaled 968,000, which is the same as in the April to June period, but 30,000 fewer than a year ago.

The number of unemployed was rising from mid-2008 until the start of 2010 to stabilise in the first half of this year at 74,000. It was down by 1,000 in the third quarter.
