Slovenian Companies to Make Electric Moped

Ljubljana, 16 December (STA) - Three companies signed an agreement on the development of the first Slovenian electric moped in Ljubljana on Thursday. It is expected to be launched in Slovenia and selected markets in Northwestern Europe in the beginning of 2012.

The project is headed by Tomos, a successful maker of mopeds, in association with Hidria industrial conglomerate and Iskra Avtoelektrika, a maker of car electronics.

Tomos plans to produce 3,000 mopeds per year in the first two years but it believes the number could increase to 10,000 per year considering the growth potential, Hidria said in a press release.
