Zagreb, 21 July (STA) - Slovenian oil company Petrol will lease petrol storage facilities at the Croatian port of Ploce under a contract signed in Zagreb on Wednesday, a move intended to improve security of supply in southeastern European markets.
The lease contract for facilities which are to be completed in two years was signed by Petrol chairman Aleksander Svetelsek and the head of Luka Ploce Trgovina Rajko Barbir, the company said in a statement.
"The long-term lease in Ploce port fulfils Petrol's long-term logistics objective, as the new shore-based facilities will improve the company's competitiveness and ensure its full independence in derivatives purchase," Svetelsek was quoted as saying.
Petrol has a retail network of 438 service stations, of which 313 are located in Slovenia, 76 in Croatia, 40 in Bosnia-Herzegovina, three in Serbia, four in Kosovo and two in Montenegro.
Ploce is located in south Croatia on the Neretva delta
