Banja Luka, 25 April (STA) - Poultry producer Perutnina Ptuj, one of Slovenia's biggest food companies, expanded its footprint in Bosnia-Herzegovina with the launch on Friday of a farm cluster and a distribution centre in Republika Srpska, projects worth a combined EUR 4m.
In Srbac the company built four state-of-the-art farms with a combined capacity of 120,000 chickens and in Laktaši it launched a 1,000 m2 distribution centre as a key part of its cold chain.
Republika Srpska Industry Minister Željko Kovačević said the investments would benefit not only Perutnina but also the local economy and local producers by stepping up competition.
Perutnina boss Roman Glaser added that the projects were just the latest step in the company's long tradition of investing in the country.
Bosnia is the fourth largest market for Perutnina and accounts for about 15% of group sales.
