Ljubljana, 25 September (STA) - Tourist facilities in Slovenia welcomed a total of 441,177 tourists in July, who generated almost EUR 1.38 million overnight stays, which represents 2% and 5% drop year-on-year, respectively, according to data released by the Statistics Office on Thursday.
The number of domestic tourists was down 10% compared to July 2013, and the number of overnight stays was down by 8%. The number of foreign tourists was meanwhile up by 1%, but the number of overnight stays they generated dropped by 4%.
Foreign tourists accounted for 67% of all overnight stays in July. The biggest number of tourists came from the Netherlands (11%), Germany (9%) and Italy, Austria and Belgium (8% each).
The biggest number of overnight stays was generated in hotels (676,000 or 49%), followed by camps (312,000 or 23%).
In the first seven months of the year, tourist facilities welcomed a total of 1.88% tourists, which is 3% more than in the same period last year. The number of overnight stays was meanwhile down by 1% to 5.2 million.
