Ljubljana, 31 May (STA) - The list of 101 biggest companies in Slovenia in terms of last year's revenue, profit, capital and number of employees compiled by the business daily Finance is topped by pharma company Krka, while valve maker Danfoss Trata beat competition in terms of sales growth, gross profit growth, ROE, ROA and added value per employee.
Last year, the top 101 of the most successful companies generated EUR 755m in profit, while all other companies in the country posted a total loss of EUR 423m.
The hundred and one companies together generated 29% of all revenues. Contrary to an average Slovenian company, they saw a rise in profit before tax, interest and amortisation.
They managed to create 550 jobs in the year when unemployment in the country reached a record since the start of the millennium, Finance says.
Their added value per employee was twice as high as the Slovenian average. The 101 most successful companies recorded EUR 70,115 in value added per employee and the 101 biggest EUR 55,614, while the Slovenian average stood at EUR 38,006.
The most successful companies saw revenue growth of 9.8%, whereas the national average stood at 1.1%.
Sales at the Danish-owned Danfoss Trata, which gained 12 spots over last year's ranking, surged by 16.8%.
Meanwhile, Iskra sistemi, a company specialising in electrotehnical products, made the biggest headway, advancing by 53 spots to the 44th place. The biggest drop was recorded by compressor maker Secop, which slid 21 places to 92nd.
