Ljubljana, 08 October (STA) - Slovenia's industrial output was up 5% in August over July, but grew by 12% year-on-year. In the first eight months of 2010, industrial output increased 6% compared to the same period last year, according to a preliminary report from the Statistics Office.
On the monthly level, the figures were up in all sectors. The steepest increase was recorded in mining and quarrying (7%).
Year-on-year comparison to last August shows that the output dropped only in electricity, gas and steam supply, which was down 0.3%, while mining and quarrying recorded a whopping 40% increase, while the processing sector was up 12%.
Electricity, gas and steam supply was down also in the first eight months of 2010, when it dropped nearly 2%. In the same period mining and quarrying recorded a 9% growth and processing industry was up 7%.
Stocks at manufacturers remained level in August over July, but dropped 7% year-on-year. Compared to the first eight months of 2009, stocks this year were down 12%.
