Ljubljana, 15 April (STA) - The average gross pay in Slovenia in February stood at EUR 1,946, down 1.6% nominally and 1.9% in real terms on January. Totalling EUR 1,254, the average net pay was also down - by 1.2% in nominal terms and 1.5% in real terms, the Statistics Office said on Thursday. Those working in healthcare and social care received the highest pay.
Year-on-year, the average gross pay rose by 8.1% nominally and by 9.2% in real terms. The average gross pay was the highest in healthcare and social care services, up by 35.5% year-on-year to EUR 2,718.
The latest gross pay data show wages decreased on the monthly level only in the public sector (-4.9%), whereas they slightly increased in the private sector (0.8%).
Taking into account various sectors, the February pay increased the most on January in information and communication services (4.1%), whereas the decrease was most significant in education (-7%).
The average gross pay in February was lower than the January figure in all Slovenia's statistical regions except for Central Slovenia, where it was up by 1.3% month-on-month to EUR 2,204. Region-wise, it was the highest, standing at 13.2% above the Slovenian average.
