Ljubljana, 27 August (STA) - The national motorway company DARS earned EUR 81.92 million from the sales of toll stickers in the first half of the year, which is 4% more than in the same period in 2018. Revenue from the tolling of cargo vehicles was up by 5% to EUR 128.65 million, while revenue from the toll paid for the Karavanke tunnel increased by 7%.
The operator of the national motorway and expressway network made EUR 78.19 million in net profit in the first six months, or 20% more year-on-year, shows an unaudited half-year report published on Tuesday.
Total revenue amounted to EUR 251.44 million or 12% more than in the first half of 2018, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation were up by 15% to EUR 207 million.
DARS has been tolling cargo vehicles electronically since last April, with the ongoing demolition and rearrangement of former toll stations being the last part of the project. The related works are expected to be concluded soon.
