German Business Delegation Visits Slovenia

A business delegation from Germany's state of Saarland visited Slovenia on Monday, meeting representatives of Slovenian-German chamber of commerce. The business representatives were also received by Viljem Psenicny, state secretary at the Economy Ministry, with both sides expressing interest to boost trade.

Gertrud Rantzen, the head of the Slovenian-German chamber underlined that Slovenia was attractive for German investors. She added, however, that German companies would like to see stimulations in form of tax cuts, subsidies and a more friendly business environment.

Psenicny said that Slovenia changed its foreign investments act this year, while the ministries of economy and foreign affairs alongside commerce chambers were putting a lot of effort into internationalisation of Slovenia's business environment.

"Slovenia is exiting the crisis slowly, but certainly," Psenicny asserted. He added that economic forecasts predicted that Slovenia's recovery will be faster in the coming years than it had been so far.

Trade between Slovenia and Saarland is quite modest. Exports reached EUR 34m in 2010, which amounts to only 0.26% of Slovenia's total exports, while imports stood at EUR 67m, accounting for 0.61% of the total imports.
