Toronto, 13 November (STA) - An economic delegation featuring representatives of 14 companies is beginning a visit to Canada's largest city Toronto as part of which six food companies will be showcased at the Gourmet Food & Wine Expo Show.
Baked goods and pasta companies Žito and Mlinotest, wineries Vinakras, Kmečka zadruga Krško and Vipava 1894, and the salt pans operator Soline pridelava soli will be showcased at the national stall at the show in the centre of Toronto from Thursday to Sunday.
The other part of the delegation comprises companies in smart building management (Andivi and Menerga), metal processing industry (Rotis), electrical surge protection solutions (Iskra zaščite), engineering in food and pharmaceutical industry (Ipros), logistics (Luka Koper), alternative energy sources (Eco Solar).
The delegation will take part in a business conference with pre-arranged business discussions at which representatives of more than 50 Canadian companies are expected. The conference will be followed by individual visits and meetings with selected Canadian businesses.
The delegation will also meet members of the Slovenian community living in Canada, including representatives of the Toronto-based Canadian Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, according to a press release from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS), which has organised the visit in cooperation with the SPIRIT agency, the Slovenian Embassy and the General Consulate in Toronto.
Merchandise trade between Slovenia and Canada topped EUR 175m last year.
