  • Online shopping on the rise in Slovenia

    Ljubljana, 07 November (STA) - Online shopping is increasingly popular in Slovenia, official statistics show. Some 84% of the people aged between 16 and 74 shopped online in the last 12 months, which is three percentage points more than last year, showed a survey conducted between January and March.

  • EU Commission lowers Slovenia's 2019 growth forecast by 0.6 p.p. to 2.6%

    Brussels, 07 November (STA) - The European Commission forecast on Thursday 2.6% GDP growth for Slovenia in 2019 and 2.7% in 2020 and 2021, a downgrade of 0.6 and 0.1 percentage points respectively compared to its spring forecast. "Growth is cooling down but remaining robust," the Commission wrote.

    Hanoi, 07 November (STA) - A Slovenian government and business delegation led by Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek started a two-day visit to Vietnam today. Seeing Vietnam as a potential new market for Slovenian companies, the ministry pointed out the country is the fastest-growing economy in Southeast Asia with rising purchasing power.

  • Slovenian tourism wins several awards at WTM London

    London, 06 November (STA) - Turizem Bohinj, the local tourism board promoting the Bohinj Lake area, received the silver award in the Best in Responsible Tourism category as International Travel & Tourism Awards (ITTA) were handed at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London on Wednesday. The Slovenia Tourism Board (STO) and Turizem Ljubljana were honoured as well.

  • Jobless total down 5% year on year despite seasonal spike in October

    Ljubljana, 06 November (STA) - The number of people out of a job registered with Slovenia's Employment Service rose by 3.7% in October to 72,416 as young people hit the labour market. Nevertheless, the total is still 5% lower year-on-year.
