ENERGY: RENEWABLES IN TRIS – KANIŽARICA BUSINESS PARK

Executive summary


Renewable energy sources, electricity production from renewable sources, photovoltaic, biogas, biomass, wind etc. - all these are very popular trends in recent years. Fossil fuels are running out, on the other hand sun provides virtually unlimited amounts of energy to Earth. Solar energy can be used directly in photovoltaic power plants or through “mediators” such as biomass. TRIS Kanižarica Business Park offers good opportunity for construction of power plant that is a combination of different renewable sources.

 

 

Project description


Area of more than 130.000m2 is available for purposes of generation of electric energy. In addition the same area can be used for storage facilities. Different companies who already run operations in TRIS Kanižarica have expressed needs for larger storage capacities in this area. Combination of these two opportunities has resulted in this project. In order to cover needs of additional storage capacities project incorporates building a complex of warehouses. Having in mind modern trends in energy usage and production it would be a sin, not to cover large roofs of warehouses with photovoltaic power plant. Project defines that part of warehouses is used for storing of wooden biomass which is needed for production of gas, based on double fire process and generation of electric energy on CHP unit.

 

Current status

Elektro Ljubljana, electric grid operator in area of Črnomelj has issued permission for connection of photovoltaic power plant with peak power of 3MW to electric distribution network. The authorities have issued building permission for construction of 3MW photovoltaic power plant. Detailed planning of buildings and 3MW photovoltaic power plant has been finished. Complete documentation can be presented to potential investors on request.

 

 

Investment opportunity

Investment for both, first and second phase, is estimated at 5,5 to 6 million EUR each. We are open for offers for debt financing and partnership, however any other kind of financing can be discussed. Toincrease development of the region, subsidies are available and applying with this project should be successful.

 

 

Project advantages

Project estimates stable income with power purchase agreements, supported by Governmental Directive for Support of Renewable Energies. Project calculation shows over 2million EUR income per year and 400.000 EUR profit per year. Area benefits from insolation above Slovenian average. In order to secure adequate supply of biomass, area benefits from proximity to Gorski Kotar, this is rich in forests. Based on the Regional Development plans we can estimate, that demand for different types of warehouse and business premises will be in rise over next decade.
