According to a study that was carried out in 2014 by Transparency International, a non-governmental organisation that studies corruption statistics, Slovenia is 39th in the list of least corrupt countries in the world. The list is headed by Denmark, New Zealand and Finland. Germany took the 12th place, and the Austria is 23th on the list. Like all transition countries in the region, Slovenia was constantly monitored as part of the process of attaining full membership of international organisations such as the EU, NATO and the OECD.

Score relates to perceptions of the degree of corruption as seen by business people and risk analysts, and ranges between 10 (highly clean) and 0 (highly corrupt).
