  • Chemical company Cinkarna Celje gets new head

    Celje, 01 July (STA) - Chemical company Cinkarna Celje got on Wednesday a new head in Aleš Skok, who has replaced the company's chairman of 15 years Tomaž Benčina. Skok, appointed interim chairman, said in a press release that the company had posted good results despite difficult market conditions in the first half of the year and was in very good financial shape.

  • Lindab closing down AC maker IMP Klima

    Idrija, 01 July (STA) - Swedish multinational Lindab has announced it will close down the IMP Klima Group, its Slovenia-based cooling arm that it acquired in 2015 from industrial conglomerate Hidria. The decision will affect 212 jobs in Slovenia and 14 in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

  • Iskratel acquired by Austria's S&T for EUR 37.5m

    Kranj/Linz, 01 July (STA) - The Slovenian telecoms equipment maker Iskratel, which has been looking for a strategic partner for a while, has been acquired by the Austrian group S&T. The deal, worth EUR 37.5 million, is expected to be finalised in the autumn as it awaits regulatory approval.

  • Gen Energija posts lower sales, higher profit

    Krško, 30 June (STA) - Gen Energija, a power utility that manages Slovenia's half of the Krško nuclear power station, saw group net profit rise by almost 20% to EUR 48.5 million even as sales declined by 5.5% to EUR 2.25 billion, according to the annual report.

  • Slovenia records 0.3% annual deflation in June

    Ljubljana, 30 June (STA) - Consumer prices in Slovenia decreased by 0.3% on average in June year-on-year despite a 1.3% rise compared to the previous month. The annual deflation has been primarily a result of lower prices of petroleum derivatives (contributing 1.2 percentage points), show Statistics Office data released on Tuesday.

    Ljubljana, 30 June (STA) - Faced with the coronavirus crisis, Slovenia recorded a general government deficit of EUR 739 million or 6.6% of GDP in the first quarter of this year. The figure exceeds last year's quarter one deficit by EUR 647 million, show data released by the Statistics Office on Tuesday.
