Registered Unemployment Down to 11.5% in June
Ljubljana, 17 August (STA) - The registered unemployment rate in Slovenia stood at 11.5% in June, which is down 0.1 percentage point from the month before and the fifth consecutive month of decline, the Statistics Office said on Friday.
Since the unemployment rate was 12.5% in January, the trend is very
similar to last year, when it fell from 12.3% to 11.4% in the first half of
the year, according to the Statistics Office.
In June, the
unemployment rate for women remained unchanged at 12.2%, while it fell by
0.1 point from May to 10.9%.
Pomurje (NE) remains the region with the
highest unemployment rate, standing at 16.7% in June, and Gorenjsko (NW)
was the region with lowest unemployment with a rate, 8.4%.
The number
of people in paid employment was at 815,700 at the end of June, which is
1,200 people less than a month before and around 13,500 people less
year-on-year.
The number of men in employment fell by almost 800 and
the number of women declined by just short of 450 compared to the end of
May.
