And the Winners of the FDI Award 2016 are …

Novem Car Interior Design d.o.o. is the best employer, Leykam tiskarna d.o.o. won the award for its successful business results, Rosenbauer d.o.o. is the best in the category of Long-term Presence in the Region, Glovis Europe GmbH, Koper Branch was awarded for logistics hub.

 


Eleven years of awarding companies, which recognised Slovenia as an excellent, development-oriented business environment filled with creative people, is becoming a tradition. A tradition with a clear purpose and goal – to strengthen and expand Slovenia’s reputation as a place filled with investment opportunities, not only because of its strategic geographic location and longstanding industrial tradition, but also because of its stability, safety, and support for development. The FDI Award embodies these qualities and realizes the mission of the governmental agency SPIRIT Slovenia to further improve the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy and lending a hand to investors.

 

The awards presented to successful companies, which play important role in the Slovenian economy are selected after serious and analytic deliberations by a jury who recognise the nominees’ achievements in four categories based on the following criteria:

  • the company employs fifty people or more;
  • its value added per employee is thirty-five thousand euro or more; 
  • the company makes profit;
  • the number of employees has grown since 2014; 
  • the company has no outstanding tax matters and liabilities;
  • according to its scorecard made in accordance with the Bisnode Failure model, it is a low-risk company; and
  • the company does not operate in a tax haven.

Award winner: Novem Car Interior Design d.o.o.

The business of the Germany-based Novem Concern dates back to 1947 when wooden steering wheels were made. Since then the product portfolio expanded to trim elements, central consoles, instrument panels and door cladding for the leading carmakers covering a total of eleven locations in Europe, Asia and North and Central America. 

The corporate history of Slovenia-based Novem Car Interior Design d.o.o. started in December 1990 by entering Emteks d.o.o. into the court register of companies. The company’s 76-strong workforce manufactured elements for car stylish interiors for the German market. Eight years later Emteks changed its name to Novem Car Interior Design d.o.o. and thanks to its constant up-going curve, over 700 employees work today in Žalec. The company is an important employer in the wider Savinjska region helping to drive its diverse economy. The number of employees is set to increase thanks to the recently endorsed new investment project that pencils in the creation of 110 new jobs.

The Novem manufacturing location in Slovenia has also posted exceptionally good sales figures over the past few years (sales growth index of 147 for 2015/2014). The company’s turnover in 2014 was over 42 million euros and in 2015 more than 73 million euros, mostly generated by exporting to foreign markets markets. The company’s creditworthiness rating is A1++.

Award winner: Rosenbauer d.o.o.

The company with Austrian equity ownership has been operating successfully in Pomurje for 19 years. The company develops and markets niche products and specific firefighting equipment and systems. The Rosenbauer manufacturing location in Slovenia specialises in the production of polypropylene firefighting water tanks, custom truck refurbishment and cabin extensions for fire trucks, and manufactures complete fire trucks to the highest standard.

The larger portion of the products made in Slovenia is destined for the Resenbauer international manufacturing concern with subsidiary companies and representations in Central Europe and Arab Peninsula. Exports account for nearly 99.37% of total sales, since the subsidiary in Gornja Radgona is responsible for marketing and sales of complete product range on the markets of former Yugoslavia.

The company generated 8.6 million euros in net sales and 1.44 million euros in profit in 2015. Value added per employee is in the range of 45,000 euros and the company also has 11 per cent headcount growth index for 2015/2014. The company’s creditworthiness rating is A1++.

In addition to being a leader in web offset printing service in Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovenia, LEYKAM Let´s Print is ranked among the top three web offset printers in Europe. The principal markets of the LEYKAM Let´s Print Group include Austria, Germany, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia and Switzerland where the 721-strong workforce generates approximately 225.5 million euros in annual turnover.

The limited liability company Leykam tiskarna d.o.o. was established in 1994 in Hoče. In 2015, the company employed an average of 115 highly productive employees as it boasts exceptionally high value added per employee of 90,000 euros. The larger portion of the company’s revenue – as much as 75 to 80 per cent – is earned in international markets. The company’s creditworthiness rating is A1++.

Award winner: Glovis Europe GmbH, Koper Branch

A special tribute for the achievements made in the implementation of the guidelines laid down in the Programme for Internationalisation 2015-2020 of the Slovenian Government designed to stimulate companies to consider internationalisation of their operations as a tool for producing end products/services with higher added value. In line with commitment to positioning Slovenia as a logistics hub, the contribution made by the Koper Branch of Glovis Europe GmbH has earned it this year’s InvestSlovenia FDI award. As a specialist for all stages of vehicle transportation from factory to point-of-sale by land and water, GLOVIS Europe operates dedicated transport schemes that start or end at Luka Koper (Port of Koper), a strategic point logistics hub for Central and Easter Europe. GLOVIS Europe has recently shifted from land transportation of Hyundai and Kia vehicles manufactured in Central Europe to a multimodal and more environmental-friendly scheme using Koper as transhipment port. The volume of operations in the Mediterranean is expected to increase further, adding to the company’s already excellent performance and high value added per employee.

Controlled by the South Korean multinational Hyundai, Glovis is a leader in finished vehicle logistics and forwarding. The Slovenian branch of the company headquartered in Germany manages the Hyundai supply chain and caters to complete logistics of goods transported from South Korea to Central Europe.

Glovis has an international workforce of 4,000 to 5,000 employees, between 600 and 700 staff in Europe and a constant rise in the number of employees working at its location in Slovenia – the headcount growth index of 16 percent for 2015/2014. 

In 2015, Glovis Europe GmbH, Koper Branch had more than 70 million euros in net sales and 3.5 million euros in profit. The company’s creditworthiness rating is an envious A1++.
