To win this prestigious award, SPIRIT Slovenija had to score most points from a select group of international site consultants from every market to judge investment promotion agencies from all over the world, the magazine’s editorial staff and the Board of Directors of the Global FDI Association. The criteria used to judge the competing IPAs ranged from the IPA’s professionalism and preparedness the leadership and staff, proficiency in foreign languages, access to user-friendly databases of sites, incentives and other investment-relevant information, a high standard in safeguarding information, excellent after-care services and last but not least – the agency’s user-friendly website.
Slovenia's qualities that make it a prime FDI location have received due credit: a well-educated workforce, English, German and Italian spoken by two-thirds of Slovenians, the country's title as the fastest growing Innovation follower according to the European Innovation Scoreboard with the share of gross domestic expenditure on R&D above the EU average (77 percent of total funds provided by the business sector).
Slovenia’s advantages go further: transportation infrastructure with over 700 km of motorways, 1,200 km of railway, three airports, the deep-sea Port of Koper and well-developed ICT infractucture with a range of technologies to assist organisations in running efficiently.
