LABOUR PRODUCTIVITY AND COSTS
Labour productivity
A comparison of overall productivity in 2006 shows that Slovenia is the most productive of EU-12 new countries. The productivity of Slovenian workforce exceeds the least productive member state, Portugal, and very nearly reaches that of Greece.

Labour costs

Labour costs include: starting level gross wage, holiday bonus, reimbursement of meal expenses, reimbursement of travel expenses to and from work, employer's social security contributions, payroll tax.
Not included: extra payments for active employment, extra payments for burdens at work, part of payment for good work results (measured on an individual or group basis), part of payment for successful company operations.

Payroll tax on a monthly gross wage is gradually being abolished by 2009. It is paid by the employer at the following rates:
